To instil leadership, teamwork, enjoyment in learning in outgoing young watersport athletes while giving impressing upon them the importance of giving back to the community and their sponsors.
Priorities for team members:
Family -Family always comes first so please let us know if there is a family conflict and we will do our best to accommodate for it.
School (education) -Education is key to becoming successful.
Promotion of Sponsors - Remember that when you are out in the community you are representing your sponsors (Buckeye marine, The Wake Institute & individual sponsors). Do them proud.
Persevere - We are more concerned with riders having fun, trying hard and supporting the team than we are with winning. Never give up!
Practice hard- Practice like every day is competition. Give 100% all of the time.
Team members- try hard, support other team members, proudly represent/promote sponsors and the sport of wakeboarding .
Coaches - Instil the importance of team work, perseverance and hard work into members. Support the team and teach them the skills necessary to compete with pride and good sportsmanship.
Parents - Support the purpose of the team as outlined above, support the team members, supply transportation to events and work constructively with coaches and sponsors to create the best possible outcome for the team.
Sponsors - Ensure that team members and coaches are provided with the necessary equipment to fulfill their duties as well as the materials to properly promote the brand and product being supplied.
There will be a host of professional instructors to give you a well rounded learning experience. Team coaches will include: Jay Poole, Jeremy Eckford, Erica Langman, Ally Boothroyd . During tournaments or wakeboarding there will always be a coach with you.
This year team night will be Wednesday from 6pm-9pm. There will be eight sessions starting June 30. Lessons will be offered to all team members at a discounted rate of $300/person for all sessions. This will include on and off water training as well as warm up and prep at competitions. Lessons will take place from Jay's house behind the MasterCraft X2 (or other suitable boats).
Equipment & Uniform:
Riders should come prepared with his/her own equipment including: wakeboard/wakeskate and bindings and a properly sized vest. Rope and handle will be provided however if you would like to bring your own you are welcome to.
Buckeye will be providing each team member with a team uniform to wear at events. Bathing suits and wetsuits will be the responsibility of the individual team member.
The team will be provided with promotion material applicable to the event they are attending. This could include:
· A large poster explaining the 5 W's of the team for on-land/stationary events
· A large tower banner for on-water events
· Flyers/coupons for community events
· Logoed t-shirts to be worn at all events
Events & Giving Back:
As part of the team, each member will be required to assist their principle sponsor (Buckeye marine) in running events that give back to customers and the local community. Although it would be great to have all team members present at every event, we understand that summer is for fun too! With that in mind, not all team members are required to be at every event however we would like to have at least 1 team member present to show the teams support and educate people on the importance and excitement of wakeboarding. Each team member is required to attend a minimum of 6 events (1 Buckeye event & 5 Wakeboard events).
Each team member will be required to promote themselves, the team and the sport of wakeboarding through mediums such as the Team blog & facebook page, twitter, letters to news papers or other creative mediums.
